It was recently brought to my attention that there is already a home automation suite named Castle OS. To avoid confusion (and costly legal fees later on) I have opted to rename my project to King’s Keep. I’ll be keeping the logo I designed – a tower with a light bulb – but the Castle Keep name is no longer being used.
I’ve recently been toying with the idea of disconnecting the code that powers the hub/devices from the code that runs in the web app. I’ve decided to have a look at building a RESTful JSON API for the hub, with an Angular 2 web app. This will allow better integration with other services in the future, and should make it easier if I decide to build native mobile apps too.
So stay tuned for more updates on Bystesize here at The Brazen Geek as I work through building a Material Design responsive front end in Angular 2.
